Just as far too many are drawn to the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco to take the own lives, it is little known that equally as many despairing parents are drawn to the Highline as a place of execution for their children. I was very fortunate to be able to get a surreptitious shot of a father committing this terrible crime. Knowing full well how annoying little children can be, the police always look the other way when this happens.
These are photography students, it turned out, at a university upstate. They complained that their friends objected to being photographed so much, but how could they develop their art if they didn’t keep photographing their friends?
