Forgiveness

The American Visionary Art Museum in the harbor of Baltimore is one of my favorite museums.
This is a Klimt like mosaic made from broken pieces of blue and white Willow Ware and thick gold colored paint.
I REMEMBER
WHEN I
BROKE GRANDMA
OLD PLATES
I THOUGHT
SHE WOULD
WHIP ME
INSTEAD
SHE HELL
MY HANDS
AND SAID
I FORGIVE
YOU CAUSE
JUST
YESTERDAY
GOD
FORGIVE
ME
AND HE
SAID ONE
MUST FORGIVE
TO BE
FORGIVEN

The Ladder of Perfection

W.B. Yeats

“…
Those masterful images because complete
Grew in pure mind, but out of what began?
A mound of refuse or the sweepings of a street,
Old kettles, old bottles, and a broken can,
Old iron, old bones, old rags, that raving slut
Who keeps the till. Now that my ladder’s gone,
I must lie down where all the ladders start
In the foul rag and bone shop of the heart.”
